my amp....
we'll i have a 1000watt crunch amp..powering my 2 type r alpine subs...it bumps great but sometimes it cuts off the power and there is no bump...i can feel taht the amp is really hot...does this always happen??
Yeah the amp will shut off if it gets too hot. Its a safety built into the amp. Where is the amp located. mount it where it can consumer fresh air to cool down. and also the new crunch amp line is shitty in my opiion. not very well made.

Are you sure about the amps model number? I cant find it on there site, is it an older amp? Is it a 2ch or is it a mono block? Still need to know what the model number of the Alpine Type R subs are. SWR-1021D, 1022D, 1041D or 1042D

Have you upgraded the ground at the batt.? What gage is the power and ground wire? Try this, after running the system to the point of shut down, grab ahold of the fuse holder on the power wire by the batt, and the power and ground wire by the amp, check and see if they are hot, be very careful, if the problem is resistance, the fuse holder and/or the wire can get very HOT, hot enough to burn, I have seen plastic fuse holders melted to sludge because of resistance and the amount of current going through the fuse.
