for some reason all of a sudden my car handles very loosely on the road. steering reaction is slow, and when ever i go over a bump or bumps it feels like the wheels go straight but the car body itself rocks in different direction. I drive a 99 honda civic coupe with 3 year old AGX KYB shocks and GC Coilovers. I can tell u that the shocks are worn of and i guess blown just by the view that the coil overs are set at the same height but the car sits low on one or two of the sides.

Nope, tire pressure is fine.

 

Is your alignemnt off?

yea probally is, but i dont know where to get an allignement on a lowered car. i still think i need to replace my shocks and struts

Probably your toe, if you lowered your car recently your toe might be jacked. I know mine is pretty far off, haven't gotten an alignment yet, and the car just feels very darty/unstable while driving, especially at speed on the highway.
You can get your alignment done at any shop that does alignments on non-lowered cars, too.

If the shocks are really blown then I guess its time for changing. Kinda dangerous to ride around on blown shocks IMO. Also, how's your tire wear? From what I've heard, messed up toe eats up tires pretty severely. THats just what I hear, I've had my car lowered without an alignment and I'm not seeing any really significant uneven wear, but I've only been lowered for maybe 1k miles.

tire wear is fine, just did a rotation

 

Get new AGXs man. If some are worn/blown and some aren't...then your stiffness differentiates from corner to corner of your car which will make it react awkwardly. If they are all worn then that ***** going to act wobbly reguardless. Either way...new struts = problem solved.

 

A wheel alignment will make your car feel alot different. For instance, it was suggested to me that I run -3.5 camber up front and -1.5 camber in the rear.

Car felt really twitchy and wanted to follow every groove of the road. The setup was designed for oversteer on a road course. All of it was controllable.

Before I go off to far from subject. I suspect your alignment to make your car handle different from what you are used to.

Maryland? Look for NTB's or Merchant's Tire. They do alignments on lowered cars.

My money is on toe. It can make a car feel very unstable like my car does on highways. Get a 30$ alignment before you spend money on shocks. And if you do get new shocks installed. Get an alignment anyways.

 

Thinking back I got SPC LCA's and it took away all neg camber and I think it pulled my wheel so it was actually pulling in at the bottom. My car was super unstable on the hwy, wanted to follow all grooves in the road. Tires were trashed real quick. Get the alignment checked and take it from there...

 

just got to find a shop that can allign a lowered car

 

NTB did my last alignment, I really liked their service as far as regular alignment shops go, very professional, better than the cheaper places. And my car was lowered, though only a little bit, all it is is just getting the lowered car on the rack, and they can have a go at trying to align the thing.
