Default Cooling question

I've been doing a bit of research today on keeping my engine a bit cooler. Did a Search on thermostats & fan switches, made a call or two, etc. Here is my question.

Spoon offers a radiator cap, thermostat, and fan switch.
Mugen offers a radiator cap and thermostat only.

Why does Mugen not offer a fan switch?

Seems that the fan switching on at a lower temp would offer more cooling.

Any thoughts?

I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Though you didn't mention upgrading the radiator.

What are your temps like?
Mine never goes above, or even touches, the half way temp mark.
I'm pretty much stock so I don't have actual gauges or datalogging. yet!

Ed,

I'm not having any problems. Just figure it is cheap insurance as I plan to increase my on-track time.

Oil cooler is a good thought too, but seems several people are having problems with theirs. Probably hold off on that for now.

Would love a larger capacity oil pan. Just don't want to mod the tranny support like the Moroso pan requires.

Anyone have a "hypothesis" as to why Mugen doesn't offer a fan switch?

They might actually believe there's a need for a nominally high/stockish operating temp for good efficiency?

I spoke to comeone at C&R radiators last night about one for my R.
Something like $675 for the radiator, fan hoses and clamps (that may even have included red anodizing).
It's a bit cheaper than the Fluidine/Fal setup, which doesn't include new hoses. Ed

I think that the fan comes on in the high 90C range...normally my coolant sees temperatures around 86-89C, only in stop and go traffic does it see temps higher, typically around 92C...oh and after turning the engine off for a few minutes then turning it back on the temp goes up to 99-102C as the coolant is not flowing.

FYI, I just picked up an EK Koyo radiator brand new for $300!!!

I wasn't going to spend that much on a radiator, but I needed a new radiator for my swap.
