Crx Brake Problem ..Master Cylinder ?
hey all ,
lately I've been having a problem with my brakes, I drive my 1991 Crx Si 30 minutes to work, and for the first 10 minutes they are fine, then the brake starts to feel really spongy, the brakes still work but the pedal goes almost to the floor, and if I am sitting at a stoplight my foot will slowly go further down holding down the break, I find if I let up on them the pressure returns for a few seconds, then the pedal goes down again, does this sound like the MC ? I checked for leaks..nada..I am running Russell SS brake Lines.
ps: it only seems to happen when it's unbareably hot weather...
pps: If it's my Master cylinder, i wanna upgrade to the 15/16 MC. I live in Canada so I can use the 90-91 civic 4 door ? which model civic though ? I read the EX model in the U.S. works, but is that the LX model here in Canada ?
thanks

we have the lx model here in the us.
it would be the model that has mpfi and a d16a6 in it.
try going to a junkyard, if possible. that'll really help you out.
and if you do find one, check it for the front knuckles, those have integra size brakes with correct geometry.

sounds like the MC to me. i had the same issues, and i replaced my MC and all is fine
the car that had the 15/16 is the 90-91 4 door civic ex. 1.6l engine. not sure what that is in america jr though.

Canada did not get a 4 door civic EX model.. We only got DX + LX.
How about the civic wagons ? which MC did they get ? 13/16 or 15/16 ?

i have this same problem, happened after i took my back caliper apart one time to repair something, i popped the piston out and after that ive had the system flushed and i ahve bled a million times. .still pumpin just to some to a complete stop. so it probably is the mc from what you all are saying. thanks

i have the same problem and it is the mc because the piston inside the mc is a little bit open and the fluid goes and the pedal sinks. just pump the brakes and it should work again. i just pull the ebrake and pump it when it happens at red lights.
