VTEC doesn't engage
ok i put a new head on my type r from a 2000 civic si fully built head valve job blah blah blah anyways i put it on this weekend and i have no vtec i have oil pressure tested out the solenoid and that works cause you can hear it click no check engine light nothing what do yall think what other things mechanical that it would make it do that my friend blew his motor he threw a rod but i dont think that would have anything to do with it let me know what you think
it seem eerrbody have VTECH problems lately ... get this JDM amber one .. its badass ..

Just to be sure:
You're putting a Si head on your Type R?
Is this a USDM R motor? The oil pressure switch in the vtec solenoid might be not working right, even if your oil pressure is good.
Just because the solenoid clicks, doesn't mean for sure it's moving completely. It's a good sign though, try cleaning it out or swapping with the one from your old head?
If you have no CEL, and no VTEC, it almost has to be the VTEC oil pressure switch or the solenoid is sticky (but not burned out if it clicked.) Dbl Ey! in this forum had it happen recently, or was it Wai... anyhow it's not uncommon, swap solenoids with someone and try again.

Haha, yeah owned again.
Another two things--
Search archived topic titles for "engaging", there's 111 results about half are about VTEC engaging.
If your VSS isn't connected (speedometer not working) you won't get VTEC.
If you're not moving, you won't get VTEC.
If you're not warmed up you won't get VTEC (duh).
VTEC Solenoid screen could be clogged.
Coolant temperature sensor could be busted. (Should get CEL though).

I REALLY hope that you had the head disassembled and cleaned before you put it on your block!!!!! When a motor blows for a number of reasons there is alot of shavings and fragments that flow everywhere oil does! You could very well have a "gummed up" head , and pressure switch to where it does not see the proper amount of pressure. Also you could EASILY shorten the life of your crank and rod bearings!!!!
