99 Accord 4 cyl. 80,000 miles...


The car has been having difficulty starting up. I don't know how to explain it in a technical fashion, but basically it's been taking longer to get to the normal engine idling noise than it normally does. It had also been shaking a little, but it went away within 5 or 10 seconds. Today, the car had the same problems starting and then started to vibrate with the orange light (the one that lights up when the gas lid isn't on) blinking. I waited for the vibrating to stop and it did about 60 seconds later. I restarted the car and the light came on, but this time it wasn't flashing anymore. I tried loosening the gas cap and then screwing it back on to no avail.

The manual says there is an emissions problem blah blah blah take it to your nearest dealer or the engine will suffer irreversable damage. What should I do???

Have you tested the main relay for the hard starting? I take it your talking bout the check engine light. You need to pull the codes and post them on here. I think autozone does it for free. Can you be a little more specific with the shaking? Like does it go away when you drive? only happens at idle etc etc etc.

 

are you pretty good about maintanence? when was your last tune up?
