Default OT: Open cars doors with remote through telephone?

Okay, I have to ask this because I heard it on the radio today. They took a car remote, and over the phone opened a persons car doors. Basically they had the persons remote, and the person put their cell phone up to the door and when they hit the unlock button, they "claimed" the doors unlocked.

Anyone heard of this? I don't believe it, but pending some testing I was inclined to ask about it.

Haha, no way. Bluetooth won't transmit what j00 need to unlock a car.

I can't get anything (V3/RAZR wise) that's not Cingular locked anyway.

Chris i disagree bud, I saw this kid at a car show activate his alarm, control his windows, start and turn the car off, etc, he installed a program into the computer, and then controlled it with his bluetooth, he then sent the program to my phone, and I could then control the car the same ways he did!....-Roger (flame suit ready!)

What kind of alarm, that's interesting. What kind of phone too? Probably a Sony P800 something-er-other?

... would seem a simple example of reproducing the frequencies and digital codes in those frequencies, which are needed to mimic the required codes which would have been emitted by the key fob ... the other option would be to have the alarm respond (since you said he sent a "program to you phone") to an additional set of independent commands which are capable of being sent from a phone to a car by means of RF.

On a side note, anyone heard of "On Star"?

What's that? I think I just renewed for 3 more years subscription of it.

Will it help my wife clean the house, do the shopping and take the dogs for a walk?

I hope it will at least get her some place on time.

Absolutively! they even offer or have available a concierge service (your wife can call them and get it all done for her ... I think, at an additional charge, all warranties are void, mileage may vary, not valid with any other other offers, other restrictions may apply, limited time only ... use at your own jeapordy ...

I find a watch helps in this respect, but is by no means a guarantee.

All of the above are in good fun and simply in jest (and for a comfortable laugh). Ed
