Default Any you turbo gurus know KKK turbos?

Hey guys just got a pretty simple question - do you know if the KKK turbo line is similar to the Garrett models in the center housing being interchangeable? Like the way you can bolt a T4 backplate, wheel and housing onto a T3 turbine and center section? I'm wondering if it's possible to do a "hybrid K03/K04" type setup (shopping for audis... sorry guys )

for the 1.8t audi/vw motor go with a k04 upgrade or t3/t4 upgrade. check out 8vturbo.com

Thanks... I know there are easy turbo swaps available - there's actually a good reason I'm trying to figure out if the center sections are swappable like the T3 and T4. We're doing some work on the K03 center section at work (basically a full custom bb housing with some... extra equipment) and it would be reallly handy if we could bolt K04 parts onto that same center section; would really make for a versatile platform if we have that whole range of compressors to choose from.

Within a few weeks I will likely have a pretty solid assortment of K03 and K04 parts all over my office but I was hoping to get a head start on that little bit of info if anyone could help out.

Ah I guess it turns out the K03 and K04 aren't as different as a T3 and a T4... more like the difference between a T04B and a T04E... mostly a difference in internal parts, same basic size. I've got a K03 sittin here and the thing is TINY after working with a T3/4 hybrid. Both the K03 and K04 are significantly smaller than a straight T3.

My friend has a K03 which he had in his Audi before he blew it. Looks small as dbman said.

Anywho, you should get the PES kit...it has a T28 turbo (no intercooler). Check it out at http://www.pes-tuning.com

The 1.8T has a stock intercooler though, doesn't it?

Yeah, a small one on the driver's side of the car. I'm not sure if the PES T28 kit gets rid of it though.

The K04 turbo has the same size housing as the K03 I believe. The K04 just has a bigger turbine inside. Don't hold me to it but I'm quite positive when I saw an aritcle in VW tuner and they did a K04 upgrade on a passat and they put them side by side and they looked the same. So, if you're doing work to the center section like opening it up a little more you might be able to fit K04 parts into it. Garrett makes a ball bearing turbo part of there ballistic series made to replace the K03. Check out the whole package at http://www.goapr.com. They've got really good stuff for audi/vw turbo engines. Hope this helps.
