Problem with the Lude' Already!!
Well I've had the Lude for about 3days now, and I do believe it needs a water pump :sigh: I have an antifreeze leak when I turn the car off after driving it, it appears to be coming from the weep hole in the water pump, although when I checked last night, it was dry around that area, yet very clean compared to the rest of the area...If it is the water pump, I'm not exactly looking forward to replacing it, as far as I can tell, honda engineers put the water pump in a really crappy place lol.
The pump runs off the timing belt, correct? If so I'll replace the timing belt at the same time...
Any other ideas, I only crawled under the car for a minute last night, the antifreeze is actually leaking right on top of the exhaust that runs under the bottom of the engine. This kind of bothers me, because from brief time under the car I didn't really see a way for the antifreeze to run out of the weep hole down the side of the block and then drop on top of the exhaust, so this is making me think it may be something else other than the water pump, something that I didn't catch last night...
If it was a heater hose or something like, that would be AWESOME lol, if its the heater core, cool. I'll bypass it.
Does anyone have a "schematic" of the entire cooling system for a 91 Si?

do a quick check on all of you hoses make sure that they are tightend proplerly and that there is now holes in them, other than that just look closely for areas that it may be comming from.... if you cant find where it is comming from there is a uv treatment that you pour in your coolent and it shows up with a black light.. but i would suggest that you get a shop to do this... just make sure that you found the problem and dont fix something that is not wrong... good luck
Try http://www.slhondaparts.com. They have good, clear diagrams of every single part.
lol yea, I really hate fixing stuff when its not broke.
It's just kinda strange though, because it only happens when I turn the car off, I can drive around for an hour and it won't leak a drop while driving/running...But as soon as I turn the car off, it starts leaking.
It's not overheating, runs at a perfectly normal operating temp and it was about 114* today. So thats a good thing.
Oh, and this 5posts per 24hrs thing really kind of sucks lol...I really needed to post this earlier, but couldn't.

That sucks.. if it's coming from the water pump you might as well do a timing belt change as well. Here's a few pics.

or

Not exactly sure if you want the full system or not. These pics aren't as good as the Helms repair manual but give you a general idea. As I don't know where the coolant drain bolt is on that block.

Sounds to me like its leaking out the overflow tank hole. You said its getting on the exhaust and in no way does the water pump run anywhere near that. But, if you are adventurous I would say go ahead and replace timing belt and water pump if you dont have any paperwork saying its been done recently as thats a good safety precaution. Can you be a bit more specific about where on the exhaust its leaking.. front or back of motor or what?
There are hoses that come off the back of the block to go to the air heater core through the firewall. If it's dripping onto your downpipe I would assume it's one of those hoses. You say it only drips when you turn your car off, but try turning on the heater in your car and see if it makes it leak more or less. If it starts laeking more, you've narrowed down your problem.

well thats odd, I drove the car probably about 100 miles today, out of the 100 miles I turned the car off numerous times...And not once did it ever leak anything? Hmm, I'm kind of confused, but if it wants to fix itself than I'm not gonna argue lol.
well exactly one week later!
Its doing it again...This time, while I was driving it, the car got VERY hot, almost to the point of over heating.
I still can't tell where the antifreeze is coming from...It's still dropping onto the exhaust, but there was also a drop or two on the front sway bar and the rear motor mount.
This is getting irritating, mainly because I can't find where its coming from.
