Default need a cat for emissions, catco or carsound?

well my emissions letter came. im in need of a cat but am not sure whether to go with carsound or catco.

i had a catco on my old b16'ed crx and it didnt seem to hinder performance at all. catco's sell alot cheaper than carsound too.

i don't particularly want to run the cat for long anyway.

anyone have any input?

I'm guessing you are forced induction as well. Even with a cat you may not pass visual inspection depending on the state. Something as simple as a valve cover breather will make you fail. You also may not pass the sniffer test. If you are running off a tune and are in open loop all the time the tune maybe a little off and if it's too lean your NOx will be too high, but if too rich your CO2 will be too high or viceversa...i forgot. timing will play a role as well. From what I've seen some have passed without cats and some fail w/ cats.

I did a small post here explaining "other options" https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1283824

GL to you...emissions suck

Carsound Magnaflow
CatCo

In my car I ran a CatCo when I first went to boost, and in the span of two months, the heat shield fell off and then the ceramic packing fell apart and I had to cut it out of the exhaust and send it back for replacement.

When the replacement came, it lasted about another month before the heat shield again fell off, and then about 4 months before my CEL came on for a bad cat. (OBDII)

I then replaced it with a Magnaflow cat, and have had no more problems after 5 more months, no CEL, and passed the sniffer test.

in maryland, they dont do any sniffer or underhood inspections.

i believe they just test for pollutants.

i guess ill look into prices on carsound cats.
