Air Conditioning not great
I am told this is a problem common to Honda Accords but I don't believe it. I have a 1995 Honda Accord with a V6. In the summer heat, the A/C blows about 55-60 degrees at an idle in traffic and will cool down to 50 going down the highway. Problem is the car isn't very cool. I have to have the blower on high just to keep it tolerable and it isn't tolerable at all in town. I had the system checked out by a garage, they charged the system but could find nothing wrong. They said anything better than 55 in one of these cars is good.
Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc.?

read this, more specifically read what sj993 and deserthonda wrote. My friend was having the same problem as you, I showed him that thread and he chekced his out and infact that was his problem. Not saying thats your problem but it seems to be a common problem with 5th gens.
it should look like part #1 in the picture below. Located near the firewall where the hoses go through.

Got a sunroof? That is the biggest culprit for the car not getting cool. I have a 94LX with a sunroof that has a sliding sunblocker and my ac is not too bad but it is nothing like my 92 sable with a R12 system. I drove home (30 min drive) and even when I got home the inside metal on the doors and the door panel were still warm even though I had A/C on high and recirculate.
Yeah, I forgot to post the pics of the coolant line. I believe this is where it is and this is for the F22 but not the V6.

I still haven't fixed it nor do I know how. But being that it is so hot I don't have to worry about turning the temp gauge at all unless I'm going on a road trip. The A/C get's pretty cold once you're sitting in the car for hours on end.
Oh and I don't care what the mechanic says but 55 is NOT good for an accord. Mine blows at 40.
EDIT: I just now noticed you live in Tulsa lol. Just curious but which shop did you take it to? Assuming you took it to a shop.

you tell the garage where they did the work that they are full of **** i live in arizona were it is in the 100s in summer and we can still get a/c down to low 40s .
have them..............
chk the heater cable for proper adjustment and make sure heater valve is not leaking by . make sure you are on recer not on fresh and you get better cooling if you set your fan speed at 1 or 2 ....make sure both fans work when a/c is on
keep in mind the ambient temp and humidity has an effect on a/c efficency and it may vary but it should still cool in the 40s ...another thing if your windows are tinted the interior wont get as hot ..

Really? You're wrong, but thanks for the input.

I took it to Tires Plus (Hibdon).
The thing is the A/C blows ice cold in the morning/evening (upper 40's). During the day it sucks...55 to 62 at the vent. So would this still be a problem with heat mixing with the cold air? If this were the problem, wouldn't it always suck?

my friend ice cold is not upper 40s in am it should cool down to 39-40 degrees ..you might be low on freon or have exp valve issues ..get pressure readings and post them here it would give me more of an idea about your system
the reason it blows cold in the morning and evenings has to due with the temp being lower. You are not going to get temps in the 40's at the vent when it is 100 degrees outside.
Also the A/C units in the car most likely not large enough to cool the car cabin when it is very hot outside.
The 6th gen cars have a much larger A/C system and the older cars used R12 which is much better at cooling than r134a.
One thing to check is to ensure that your heater valve has not wasted away from the inside. I am going to replace my valve here in about a week along with all of my rad/cooling hoses

Touring Accourd is right.
I've got 2 Accords (94 and 95) and they both exibit the same problem. Even when you turn the temp dial all the way over to cool, the door the dial is connected to still isnt all the way closed. The cable is spring loaded and doesnt work so well.
The fix (once you're sure the A/C is working right) is to reach below the airbox and close the door manually. Its pretty easy. From the passenger floor, reach up and feel for a cable and door. To help, more the temp dial back and forth as you feel. The door will be moving as you move the dail. Simple close the door all the way by hand and you're good. On both of my cars, it's good for a 10 degree difference.
Per the book, your accords should blow at 40. Mine even gets down to 35 and blows frost out in high humidity. If it's not at or near 40, the something's wrong!

I did this to mine yesterday and it made a huge difference. I could actually drive around without the a/c being on max setting all the time. Thanks again
