Hey Guys,
My a/c is blowing warm air in my face and it ain't great. I checked the pressure it was in the danger zone, I emptied it out till the pressure was none. Then I added new refrigerant coolant in there and its still blowing warm air. I hear the a/c compressor kick in when I turn the a/c on. Any suggestions?

 

are you pulling in outside air or recirculating inside air? you want to do inside air.

 

It should work in either mode.

Check to make sure warm air isn't going in with the cold air. There is a coolant line that runs into the firewall on the passenger side of the engine. It's toward the bottom half of the firewall on the passenger side. I'll post a picture of it when I get a chance. If there is warm air going into the vents with the cold air that would explain why it's not cold and is in fact blowing warm air. You may have to shut it manually as it apparently get's stuck sometimes.

 

chk heater **** make sure it is not broken thus not shutting off heater valve as well as heater valve adjustment like the guy said before there is a valve on firewall make sure cable there is adjusted properly when **** is all the way to cold cable should be all the way forward

 

Is this cable inside the engine bay or inside the cabin? I do recall having an issue with my CRX where the cable wasn't closing the vent properly but I don't know where it is on the Accord.

 

possibly the evaporator core?

 

in actuality it is a 2 piece cable 1 goes from heater control (( heater **** )) to rt side center of dash , the other piece goes from there to heater valve which is located in engine compartment ,,,if you follow the coolant hose from below distr to firewall that hose goes into heater valve there is a cable there ,,now turn the heater **** all the way to cold and that valve should be all the way forward toward front of car,,if that is adjusted properly most likely the other cable inside the cabin is ok as well..try that and let me know

 

forgot to ask.you stated that you have a gauge hook it up put a/c on and post the low and high pressures here when a/c engages it will give me more of an idea

 

I don't have the "High" pressure gauge.

 

I am afraid that you have gotten some outside moist air into your system and that is not good, I am afraid in your case you will need to spring for a professional service but lets try to find out why you have very high pressure on the low side, try to find a full set of guages, are you sure you had the low pressure guage on the low side? What year is your car and what type of refrigerant please?

The car's a/c wasn't used for probably a year to two years. The low pressure gauge only fits on the low side the high side guage is a bigger connector. I figured I can go get another set of guages but at this rate I might as well just take it in for service. When i saw that the pressure on the low side was in the danger zone using the low guage connector i didn't lock it and this cuased the "air" to escape bringing the pressure down to almost nothing. But like I said I didn't check the high side.

I also checked the lever and it is pulling foward all the way when the **** is on the cold side.

Car is a 1996 and I refilled the low side with R134.

 

just a silly question how much freon did you add?? how much is in the system ??? did you evacuate system, put it under a vaccum and then charged it ??

 

i'm guessing that he doesn't have a vacuum pump & has purchased one of those recharging kits from walmart... heck i did too since wife's car having same problem. i dunno why those kits only give u the low-side gauge & not both for proper diagnosis. (my reading was ~45psi)

i was following this thread & taking notes... can it be from bad expansion valve as well? (read another thread). Duh, w/out knowing both pressures, i guess it will be hard to diagnose.

 

I jus filled the refrigerant today to full. When i turn on the a/c i can hear everything kick on. Its reading about 44 on the low side. I didnt check the high side yet. Do yall know what else can b the problem??? Bad compressor? Bad Clutch for a/c???? Any suggestion Thanks

 

could have a bad expension valve...........how much freon did you put in ???

 

A little. The freon reads 44 for the pressure. Ill check the expansion valve and see whats up. Thanks

did you make sure your heater valve is not partially open, letting warm air mix with your cold

 

44 is too high on the low side

 

ok i'm new at this and don't know much about cars......but.....when i retrofitted my 92 accord i blew my duel pressure switch wich caused my ac to blow warm......like i said i don't know much but my car had the same issues.......
