Default auto to manual. Can it be done????

I,m in a bit of a bind. I bought an automatic 88' Dx only for the simlpe fact it was my dream to own an EF. I also found a great deal on a 92-95 motor/tranny and ECU so i got to thinkin' about a simple swap, but is it so simple to swap the automatic for the manual???? just lookin' for some answers thanks.

It would be harder becaue you're putting a hydro tranny in. The 92-95 tranny's are all hydro whereas the 88-91's are all cable.

The problem people are running into with the D-series hydro swap into an EF is how to get the hydro tranny to mate up. With the B-series cable to hydro swap it is included with the mounts. I'm sure someone has figured it out for the D-series. But use the motor and should be able to use the cable tranny. You also need the pedal assembly from a manual car to put up in the car.

Sell the 92 tranny and find a 91 cable tranny. For the swap, its not that bad, I did it 2 months ago. check out my site http://www.4gcivic.net for the parts list you will need.

I always thought about things this way:

I'll save myself the time and trouble and just buy a manual car if I want one. The auto to manual swap is time and money, so get a manual car in the first place.

I hate to sound like an ***, but if it were me, I'd sell the auto and get a manual.

That write up is great for the wiring. But the author makes no mention about the mounts being different. That set me back about two days on my swap....

I paid $200 for my si/zc tranny, mounts were free from a friend. The pedals, linkage and clutch cable I got off a HT member for $80. So it wasnt expensive. I think I spent more on the clutch and flywheel than anything else.

Yeah the money you spend on getting the auto-manual conversion done, could be going towards making your new motor faster...

But still I know alot of people that did the auto-manual conversion, but none of them had to deal with hydro-cable. I just say get a 91 cable tranny.
