Icon2 92-95 Manual Pedal Assembly Question

I was looking to do an auto to manual conversion on my 94' civic coupe. I was wondering 2 things. Are all d-series manual trannys the same as far as mounts go and if so was there any car in the 92-95 range that used a cable clutch as opposed to the hydro one. The reason I'm wondering is because I have a spare 4th gen civic d series tranny, but its cable. So If I have to do a conversion or swap out cases it wouldnt be a problem. Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

You need to use a custom upper transmission mount and possibly lower transmission bracket when using an EF cable tranny. Just get any '92 - '00 D-series tranny, you can find DX trannys for almost nothing.

So if I am to use the 92-00 dx tranny. All the mounts from the auto will still work with the manual trans? Thanks.

p.s. I'm going to be swapping in some si gears anyways so the trans really doesn't matter all that much I'm just basically buying it for the case and differential.

I believe the automatic cars have a different mount on the tranny side, but there is a conversion mount that bolts to the tranny you can buy instead of welding in a new chassis mount.

No, you will need either an aftermarket auto to manual swap mount, or use the manual upper transmission mount from a '92 - '95 civic, or '94 - '01 Integra + the pocket mount thats welded to the passenger's side frame rail from either of the cars I just listed.

Be aware the the Y5, Y8 and Z6 transmissions are all big bearing cases, this means the differential uses larger bearings, meaning you can't simply swap an Si differential in a non Si case (I can't remember if you can simply swap the ring gear from an Si diff on a CX/DX diff.

I ahve had about 4 transmissions before. All of the 4th gen civic lx cases are small bearing, but both the crx si tranny case that i used and the tranny that came with my motor in my 4th gen (JDM D15B) use a big bearing. So I still have a spare si differential with a big bearing as well as 2 spare lx (small bearing) differentials. All open differentials sadly. Mine is the si trans and the JDM Lsd in it. In my 4th gen it is. So im hoping to swap in an si diff, if it fits, and put the si gears and sychros in as well. Thanks for all your help guys.
