turbo SI psi question
okay, i have a revhard turbo kit in my 02 si. i will be running around 20 or more psi after i get my other engine back that i sent out to be built. but in the mean time i want to run mopre than 7 psi. i know boosting to 10psi is possible with what i have done now to my car, but i was wondering.....how about 12psi? is that a safe boost? the k20a3 block is pretty resiliant with good compression ratios. i know someone who boosted to 14 and blew his engine. so i figure keep it below 14psi for now.....should i go 10 or 12?
A certain "PSI" doesn't blow things up. A power output limit or a tuning error is always the cause. The K20a3 OE shortblock is good to around 300whp w/ no upgrades(so I have heard). Compensate for the added boost in the tune, keep it conservative and I think you'll be OK.

10 psi on an fmu with a 12:1 rise will shut the injectors causing a lean condition. i WOULD NOT GO OVER 8 psi.

If you are on FMU don't boost past 7-8 IMO opinion as boostedcivicsir said his reasoning is correct. If you are on a system like Hondata or similar you can boost more, but you must be tuned for it. Basically talk to your tuner, because he will know what's goin on.
These PSI questions are poping up EVERYWHERE...someone should make a sticky fast (not just FAQ) or I'm goin to do a writeup and everyone can refer to that

i pretty much understand...makes sense, although, not to sound like a noob, but whats cfm.....i have an idea, but not 100% on it.....i am running a t3/t4 setup right now....although revhard is coming out with a stage 2 for my car...the gtbb....ball bearing....but that has really nothing to do with what we are talking about....but, yeah, i might as well wait till i get my other engine back....just sucks, cause im sending it in augest and they said i wont get it back till end of september of mid october...i wish i wasnt so impatient! as soon as my ecu gets back im going to talk to a tuner to see what the cars capabilities as of now are. your info definetly may have saved my engine though!
