Axle joint popped out?
Hey, i was working on my car, and had to drope the control arm and everything on the passenger side to the ground... i'm guessing that i let it down too much and it pulled out the joint inside the axle boot, because not it won't pivot back up... it gets sort of kinked when i try to pivot it back up to connect the knuckle back to the strut... anybody know if there's a way to pop it back in? or is that axle toast? thanks
Sounds like the axle just popped out of place, it's tricky; but it's pretty easy to fix:
1) Start by aligning the knuckle as close as you can to the strut, and then pull the strut towards the knuckle while pushing the knuckle towards the strut. This should give you enough room to put the lower 19mm bolt back in.
2) After getting the lower bolt back in, make sure that the rotor/knuckle assembly is centered and facing forward.
3) Push the top part of the knuckle towards the strut...at the same time, grab the rotor and turn it slowly until you feel a 'low' point. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you try it. Now you just have the keep pushing on the knuckle and jiggling/rocking the rotor back and forth until the axle pops back in.
It might take a couple tries; but it'll eventually pop back into place.

I had to deal with that same **** this weekend. Somewhat simular to what theseint said. I had the strut mounted to the shock tower then lined up the axle till it was parallel with the ground and pushed on the top of the knuckle. It should just pop right in. I found this easier because since its unbolted you get alittle more movement to work with.
