When removing the axle you have to take off the steering arm and the upper control arm?
Is there an easy way to get these off because there stuck like hell and i dont wanna beat it to sh** and mushroom the head of the bolt? any tips? Thanks

This is a 20 minute job once you figure out how to do it.

1. Break the axle not loose. If you don't have
an impact gun, pop out the center cap of your wheel and use a breaker bar with the car still on the ground.

2. Jack up the car and remove the fork that's on the bottom of the strut (14mm bolt on top and 17mm bolt/nut on bottom). Once you undo them wiggle it off the strut and out of the way.

3. Remove the lower ball joint. You have to pull out the cotter pin and then it's a 17 mm castle nut. I usually get the ball joint loose by beating the control arm with a BFH, or you can also use a seperator or the 1/2" craftsmen ratchet trick.

4. Fully remove the axle nut and tap the axle end out of the hub. With the stuff you removed you can swing the hub far enough out to get the axle out.

5. Use a prybar or big flathead to pop the axle out of the tranny or intermediate shaft (depending on what side you're doing)

I normally don't lose any tranny fluid while doing this but you can drain it before if you're worried about it or want to change it anyway.

Or you could just:
1. Loosen axle nut.
2. Seperate the lower balljoint with a pickle fork.
3. Set the hub and rotor aside.
4. Pry the axle out (I think a pickle fork works best for prying out the axle).
5. Put it all back together.

I don't like pickle forks it's too easy to rip the boot on the balljoint. I guess the best way to say it is "get the balljoint loose whichever way you prefer".

Yea they can be potentially bad for the balljoint. They work the best though in my opinion.
