civic vx engine code is d15z1. but i wouldnt waste your time building up one. get a d16z6 or jdm d15b motor. either can be had for around 300 bucks for the longblocks and are much better platforms then the vx motor. any questions pm me or aim=kcdirtbro54
and search is your friend if you feel like researching on either motor i mentioned. good luck

i know it is not that great of an engine but i dont want to waste time and money buying another engine that will probably require a rebuild as well i am planning on b16a2 next summer i just need something reliable to last me until then i could go buy rebuild kit and that might fix my problems but i want to get a little more umf out of the little engine. so if anyone knows where i can get some cheap aftermarket parts for this engine please let me know. my aim isnt working now but i will im u as soon as i can.

Don't waste your money on "upgrades" for the D15Z1, not worth it.

What's wrong with your current engine? Just because it might have some mileage doesn't mean it's time for a rebuild.

Since you're going for a swap soon, leave it as is. Drive it bone stock. Just do some preventative maintenence and you're good to go.

The D15Z1 is made for gas mileage economy, not speed. Drive a grocery getter as it was meant to be driven, slow. Point A to point B.

just as the other guy said, try picking up a different motor, you said all you gotta do is make it another year, find somebody with a motor for cheap and throw it in until then. you'll have more into the rebuild then you would if you just bought a used motor, and its not like you are going to keep the motor in forever.

so that means what?... if your going to be swapping in a different motor anyways just find somebody with a cheap motor for sale, that or use this as an excuse to do your swap now. if your not ready then find a cheap cx dx or ex/si motor and swap it in...

ok you guys have apoint with the no power issue but where can i get decent engine for a decent price. it needs to be vtec because i dont want to change the wirring and ECU everywhere i have gone they cost somewhere in the range of $800 i am pretty sure that a rebuild cost less by the way i live in tulsa oklahoma and there only a hand full of import salvage yards.

ok well look in the for sale forums, and why would you have to change the wiring? why spend a lot for a motor now only to do it later, just find something to throw in there for now, most junk yards around here are that way too, so find local members and ask them, i'm sure somebody knows of somebody parting a car out, or could even help you find one, i see your a trial member so you can not post in the marketplace yet, but i think you can still search and view the posts.
