Default What is a safe boost level for a JDM GSR motor?

T3/T4, 550cc, and Hondata S100. Right now I'm running w/ a 5lbs spring.

I think its safe to assume that your rods/pistons/sleeves are stock. If so keep it around 8psi on the turbo. If you have rods/pistons keep it around 300whp.

So a JDM GSR (B18C) should be able to handle around 300whp boosted? Im very interested in turboing mine also (JDM GSR).

10 psi with tunning is about 300whp easy.

30 at least.

those T21s love high boost.

When will people learn. HP/torque limits are the only respectable means of communication

You can easily run 10Psi on a good tune. The better the tune the more boost.

Ok, I'll order my 10psi spring today. I don't plan on running 10psi all the time, just getting ready for "battle" next month.
Tuning w/ race gas is scheduled soon. I'll be sure to post my results

Thanx guys

you don't need race gas with 10psi...and it will eat your O2 sensor.

if you dont want to run 10 psi all the time why are you running a 10 psi base spring? get a .5 or .6 bar then use a boost controller so you have a means of lowering it. thats just my o.o2

Yeah, thats the plan, but I can't afford an electric boost controller right now, and I don't wanna deal w/ a manual one. So a $30.00 spring will hold me over till I save $300.00 for a profec-B

So it would be easy to make 300 WHP on 10PSI on a totally stock gsr? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jdmhonda &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">10 psi with tunning is about 300whp easy.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I have the same motor in my car as well and was wondering is this with the stock compression? Wouldnt it be better to lower it a bit? like say a thicker head gasket if you're on a budget??

Compression is 10:6 so its pretty much the same as a USDM Type R, although i belive the ring lands are alot more robust. Same engine as mine.

Personally id tune 6psi ish, get that sorter and see how it runs etc, then get a 10psi spring if you dont wanna run 10 all day but cant afford a EBC and swap the springs at track (BOTH boost pressures need tuning)

today I did a compression test to see how healthy the motor was. I followed the directions from the C-speed site and I came up w/ 220psi across the board (give or take a hair or two) nothing within 5psi on each other. I couldn't believe it, so I tested again, same results.

C-speed sayz 5 cranks, but I noticed the more I cranked it the higher the gauge went. The numbers I used were off the 5 crank spot.

I just hope I did it right. I'm gonna post my results on some compression test threads, I thought I would just let you guys know.

Theres a guy running around (with a good tune) with 17lbs daily and like 25 or so LBS when he races. He has a the stock sleeves with some forged pistons and rods. I also belive the motor is a GSR.
