gsr 2.0 vs. lsvtec 2.0
i just got done building my b16 head and im am now moving onto the block. im debating between a gsr 2.0 or an lsvtec 2.0. both blocks are gonna be sleeved. which would be a better set up. and its all going into a 91 hatch.
You cal always use the LS crank and rods in a GSR block for the same same displacement, though. But with the GSR crank and rods, the motor will rev better and wear less.

only if he has both blocks in his possesion. if you have to purchase a b18c1 to sleeve it, then its a no-brainer. lsv all the way.

the displacement is the same on both. 2.0 is 2.0.. that's like saying
which one has more volume?
a 1 liter of soda or a liter of milk?
now if he's talking about 84mm bore for his block, that's a different story
i would personally go with the gsr block

you think so? stroke is a determining factor of the powerband. your st8ment is wrong. the gsr will peak later and possibly make more peak hp. but, the ls will make more overall power. some people love to rev, others just want the most usable power. every 2L is not the same, or should i say..... does not have the same characteristics.

I think what he is trying to say that if both are 2.0's then they are both 2.0's
if they both had 84 mm bore
gsr: 1933cc
LS: 1973cc
the gsr would be closer to a 1.9 and the ls would be a 2.0 get it?
So the gsr would need more bore to reach the same displacement as the LS
The GSR would have the better rod ratio however. Ls would make more tq but GSr would last longer.

It's exactly the same thing.

correct, a sleeved 84mm ls is the same as a sleeved 84mm crv

im using an LS crank in a gsr block. With an ls crank generally peak tq will be a few rpms earlier in the powerband compare to a gsr crank, because of the rod/stroke ratio.
I put an engine combo together to keep engine speeds below 9000 rpms, so it works for me. If you have a gsr block with the crank, use it. Up to you. You just have to decide what area of the powerband you want to emphasize.
