Default throwout baring

my throwout baring is making noise. im need to know if i should replace just the baring or get a new clutch kit and replace everything and resurface the flywheel? my set up is stock and im selling the car, so there is no need for me to do an outragous change or upgrade. i want to keep it stock. but someone told me if i replace just the baring that the noise (cricket sounding) will come back after a month or so. thanx

That sound isn't the throwout bearing. Try lubing the fork that the slave-cylinder rod pushed into. by loosening the slave-cylinder, you can lube that without taking the tranny out. $.15 cent fix

well two mechanics told me the same thing. the noise goes away when the clutch is pushed in. i hope its and easy fix. although one told me that i could just lube it up again or something like that. but the other said its best to replace it. im not sure

The "Same Thing" as you put it is NOT the same thing you described in your first post.

Well, if you're going to replace the throw out BEARING, might as well replace the whole sha-bang.

btw - I hope I didn't come across as 'harsh' with my statement. I like the KISS principal & if lubing the release fork instead of pulling the tranny & spending $100's of dollars works = try it!

Anyway, good luck.

+2 If you can fix it without doing the clutch, try that first.

Pulling the tranny to do the clutch is a lot of work if you do it yourself, or lots of $ if you have it done. If you're going to spend/labor, putting in about $300 to do the whole clutch is a good idea.

How many miles? B18C5?

it could be your drive shaft inside where the gears live
good luck on lubing that!

If the noise goes away when you depress the clutch pedal then it is definitely NOT your throw out bearing. If you get the whining sound with the pedal down then you're looking at the throw out bearing

You don't need to replace the whole clutch if you just have a problem with the throwout bearing.

However if you're in there and replacing it you may want to do the clutch at the same time if you want to upgrade.
