Default bikes worth?

my neighbor has a 2001 yzf 600 for sale. i havent seen it yet but from what he tells me its mint and prolly not that many miles. he hasnt told me a set price. he just said to make an offer on it and he will prolly take it. hes kinda rich so i think he really doesnt care and just wants to get rid of it. i dont want to give him a bs offer and sound like a moron so what u guys think would be a decent offer?

thanks dave

Has he been taking care of the bike? Maintenance all done?

Anywhere from $2500-3500 is a fair price, depending on how good of a friend he is.

I believe KBB has some guidelines for you to make a better estimate.

Sure, no problem. Be sure to budget for some gear too.

I had that bike (03 yzf600) before I bout my CBR600RR... and let me tell you.. the extra bit of money for the CBR was WELL worth it... but if its your first bike, the yzf might be a good choice

Why would you say for the extra money the CBR is worth it? They appeal to totally different crowds if you ask me. The Yami is definitely the better beginners bike. It's definitely more comfortable for longer rides as well.

I believe the thread creator was looking for advice on what he should offer for the bike. Can we hear the safety lectures a little bit less often?

Since I had the yzf, I would have to disagree... everyone told me the RR would be more stiffer and uncomfortable... but I can ride my RR on rides a LOT longer than I could my yzf... the bananna seat sucked for me
