Default Price haggling

Goin to a stealership to look at a 06 gsxr 1000 with 6,295mi and they are asking $9,999. NADA lists "average retail" $9,365 So I was wondering given that information what I should offer them for it was thinking 9 even or if I was lucky in the range of 8750-9000. Is asking below 9 too low ball whattaya think?

offer them whatever you want. The worst they can say is no. But keep in mind there will probably be dealer charges and tax depending on where you live, so it will most likely end up well beyond "average retail."
If you're getting a used bike anyways, why don't you just buy from a private seller?

i say go in, talk to the dealer for a few minutes about anything you want, then move the convo more twards business, offer 9 + whatever tax is, if they say no respectfully thank them for their time, give them a card with your name number and type of bike you're looking for and walk out. more than likely they'll stop u from leaving and try to negotiate. whatever they offer think about it for a second and say no i really cant spend more than 9. if they stop you again you know they wanna sell it and you now have all of the power. personally i wouldnt buy a used bike from a dealer just because of all the bs fees they try and add on but good luck regardless

I too hate the fees and junk but the fees come with a sense of security. Before the bike hits the floor it is inspected so right then I know it works and nothing is majorly wrong and if something goes wrong they will fix it. A private seller could ghetto rig something broken to work for a while and when it does I'm screwed with the bill, no warranty, no returns just kind of leerey because I have no luck I would find a bike the guy would be real nice work out a good price just to get rid of it and bam won't even make it home. But I'll see what I can find nothing is in stone yet with a dealership

if you're that paranoid then by all means pay the extra for the security. I've had 3 bikes in my short time riding and the biggest problem i've inherited from a previous owner is one cross-threaded bolt. Otherwise it's all about going over the bike thoroughly before you buy it...kinda like the dealer does before it sells it to you.

Modern jap bikes don't really have the issues we associate with let's say some of the European ones. I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty. It's a pain to deal with usually anyways.
