Default Master Cylinder interchangeability?

I've got a 96 Cx MC sitting in my shop in another town.
My buddy has a 92 DX with no brakes. Will my 96 Mc work on that 92? neither have ABS or anything funky. Anyone know offhand?

You would need to bend the brake lines (mabey flare them too), and grab the booster as well...

The the MCs won't even bolt up to the booster correctly right?

No they wont. That's why I mentioned grabing the matching brake booster as well. If you compare the drawings, you can see that the two MCs have different mounting positions, and the studs on the booster are in different locations...

The boosters can be swapped?

I've read that they cannot be swapped.

Weird - I thought it was the other way round? Anyone have any first hand experience with master cylinder interchangeability?

Right now I'm running a MC/booster off a 92 GSR in my 94 VX. The MCs alone def will not line up. The only problem I ran into was one of the lines that go to the MC didn't fit right. So I had to ghetto rig it. Still works though

The boosters will swap just fine. The main problem is the brake lines & brake line fittings. If you have different size brake line fittings from one car to the other, it will require you to cut the old ones off the doner car. Then to make the MC work on the new car, you have to cut/bend/re-flare those brake lines. If you do that, you cannot ever reinstall a MC into the donor car since you cut off the brake line ends, and took the fittings too...

Another trick I've seen is to run custom braided hoses from your existing brake line fittings, directly to the new master cylinder. If you use the correct size fittings, you won't have to bend/cut/flare anything...
