Help - 2004 LX Difference between brake boosters
All,
I finally got around to replacing my brake booster today on my 2004 LX 4 door. However, when I went to put the master cylinder back in, I realized that the replacement booster is different from the one I removed.
My original booster is much thicker, with a deep recessed hole in the front. The original master cylinder has a piston that extends a couple of inches from the back of the master cylinder, and fits into the recess of the brake booster.
The replacement booster is thinner and has a recess for the pushrod that is much less deep. It may be a DX brake booster. My original master cylinder won't work with this booster.
I've tried to google to see about differences, but have come up short.
Right now, i'm not sure what to do. Should I get a master cylinder that matches the replacement brake booster, or take it back and get a booster that matches my master cylinder?
Thanks,
Whit

yup, got yourself a DX booster.
go get an LX/EX/Si booster that is correct for your car and keep it all 'correct' as the car should be. i wouldn't go out and spend money on a DX master cyl, the place that sold you the booster should exchange it and actually give you some money back. the correct booster for your car is cheaper than a DX one.

Thanks! I was wondering if I got a DX booster.....
The DX booster is going back and a LX booster will be taking its place.
