Hi, i just recently rebuilt my gsr block with oem parts and overbore stock pistons. The motor bent 2 rods and broke a ringland because the ground was knocked off the boost controller and the solenoid held the wastegate spring shut... still wondering how many lbs. it hit on that last run..

Anyways after rebuilding it and taking it for a run the first time we ran into code 22 and no vtec. We swapped vtec solenoids for a known good one to no anvail. We then hooked up a oil presssure gauge to the hole next to the solenoid and it took days to get the oil to get to the gauge at idle and revving it up to 5k, so we just skipped to tapping it at the oil pressure sensor.

We just swapped the oil pump out for a brand new one and cleaned the oil pickup out to no anvil....

Now brother and I are stumped..... What could be the cause of our low oil pressure??

at idle oil pressure is 10lbs (minimum)

at 3k it was way under the 50lbs required... (cant remember exactly what it was)

still not enough pressure ofr vtec


10lbs of boost and no vtec on a gsr motor blows...

50 psi @ 3000 rpm
thats what the manual calls for

this are the readings on a cold engine

do u have a oil pressure gauge on the back of the block?? so u know what the oil pressure its acting like

 

Excessive bearing clearances will cause an oil pressure drop.

If you ruled out the oil pump, gasket, and strainer, that is all that comes to my head.

(minus anything obvious like a major leak at the oil filter, pressure sensor, etc)
