Just got new tires Installed and now car is vibrating on highway
I bought used Rota Subzero rims from my buddy. He bought these rims new for his Integra and rims size is 16*7 offset is 45. I just got new Fuzion tires installed 205/45/16 on these rims from Firestone. Now when I go on highway steering vibrate. So I took it back to Firestone and they told me I need aliments. So they did aliment and recheck wheel balance. I still got same issue.
Guy who was working at Firestone told me that I need "Hub Centric Rings." Since my wheels are not made for 2000 civic.
So I what could be wrong here? I think Firestone is lieing. I am about to call their coustomer service but before I call them I want to make sure.

It could be possible that the rims are 'lug centric' (centering by the lugs rather than the hub). If they are, and the shop did a hub centric balance, it could be off a bit.
What lugs are you using? If you're using OEM lugs, they have a 'ball' seat, and you need a 'cone' seat for aftermarket rims. This could effect the balance if they are in fact lug centric wheels
I use lug centric VW rims on my car for snow tires. They can vibrate a bit if I don't line them up with the lugs properly. I could buy a hub ring, but I've gotten used to mounting them; so it's not a problem.

But how can I find out if my rims are hub centric or lug centric?

do not use OEM lugs... you need cone lugs also known as tuner lugs... also, if you were going over 75 mph, i heard something about wheel balancing techniques and a certain speed...i dont remember what it was but something about if shops use bubble balancers or something... ill try and see if i can get more info for u
take off the oem lugs and get tuner lugs. also you most def need hub centric rings. that is the cause of your vibration. i work for discount tire in charlotte, nc and i have seen first hand the result of using wrong lugnuts so get the correct lugs. and hub rings.

The problem is using OEM lugs. They don't have the proper seat, so they don't center the wheel properly. Any aftermarket lug has a cone seat, which will match your rims. This will most definitely make a difference.
You may not need rings if you get the proper lugs. I have been using lug centric lugs without rings for years. The problem will be if they were hub balanced (which is true of most shops). You may still be okay, but get some new lugs first.
Not only could it help the balance of the wheel, but it is also dangerous to use the wrong lugs. They only contact the rim at very small points, wich causes large point loads and can lead to failure.

Which aftermarket lug nut do you guys recommend? I don't want to spend too much money on them.
Also where can I get them?

ok now this has been covered before as i remember. I thinks its because of PERFORMANCE tires, they always make noise/wobble or such things because of the thinner outter walls of the tires. You win some and you loose some with performance tires. I am sure I can find the thread about this, just last week i believe.

You can get any lugs you like, all aftermarkets have the proper seat for your wheels. Go pick some up, and then if you still have problems, look into picking up the rings.

If your into camaros, it isn't. A camaro is a V6, and a Z28 is a V8. Also, an SS is a bad *** V8. Those cars are VERY fun to drive, but not very safe. Both my friends that had them have spun them in the rain just driving around normal...

oem lugs will still center the wheels!!
problem is
they TIGHTENED ONE before tightening the others to center the wheels...
or
wheel is bent...
or
tire was improperly balanced...
i'd be money it is is number one!

you either have a bent rim that was in the rear of the car that is now on the front , or the shop did a really shitty job of balancing your tires...
using oem lugs on after market wheels will cause the shake. really bad thing to do cause after a while it will just eat through the stud holes on your wheels. Used to work at americas tire in california and they sell tuner lugs for pretty cheap. Get what ever kind you want, all pretty much the same. As for the tire,s, no offense but they are ****. i would never put a firestone on my car. If it was they balance then they must have really fucked up cause it shouldnt be that bad even if its off like 1/2 an oz. Change your lugs, no need for hub rings. i have the same wheels in a 15 and have no problems with them. but you do have good taste going with them.
i work in a tire shop and do 90% of the wheel orders taht come through, 1) if yuor using oem lugs theyre not seating right and can be a MAJOR problem, 2) it could be the fact that theyre hub centric and not lug centric meaning itll DEF. need rings which yuod prolly have to get from the manufacturer, 3) balancing is off which is not only dependent upon the type of centricity but also the tire. please people dont jump my case after i say this but fuzion tires could be your problem, with experience ive learned that the better the tire the better the balance. when i balance a set of michelins and then a set of generals or soemthing cheap, BIG difference in amount of weight. 4) if they static balanced the wheels they only balanced either the inside or outside of the wheel and it doesnt do as well of a balance. Good luck
Yeah the balance could be off, but I doubt they would mess that up. Probably just need the lugs.
BTW, I also used to be a GM lover, ford/dodge/etc hater. Then I got a Honda...so much easier to mess with and more reliable. But, GM is still my domestic of choice
