Default Aluminum Exhaust - Will it last on a Daily Driver?

Hi everone, I found a few old threads on using aluminum for the exhaust piping. I know Geoff from full race had an all ally exhaust, and a few other ppl said they are running one too. What I want to know is have these exhausts held up ok? Will it last on a daily driver?

Also what do you guys do for mufflers? Fabricate one from ally, or weld flanges and put on a normal stainless muffler? Thanks in advance...

I live in Australia!

But the weather here is very similar to Cali, never goes below about 8 degrees C. Salt is never used on the roads, so thats not a problem. Even mild steel systems last ok here. I was mainly concerned about wether the ally would stand up to the temprature and thermal cycling of the exhaust? If they last ok I will pull out the tig and start work

it would probably work, but why not just use mild steel or something a little heavier to be on the safe side, why do all that work and then have a problem, but ya it should be ok

hmm, yeah i mean.. what could happen to it really?

I don't think it'll get as hot as a header does

maybe if you had some crazy high hp beast,
like one of those turbo cars that you can see the exhaust manifolds glowing red in the dark.

**** arent pistons made out of aluminum??

forged aluminum is slightly different than 6061 alum piping.

I would keep your header runners SS or iron or something like that, but catback, you shouldnt have a problem running aluminum tubing

Ok cool, so alluminium catback. What about the muffler? Should I try fabricating one from alluminium?

Care to post some links to ready made alluminium mufflers?

I don't think making it is a problem. I have a decent AC inverter TIG. A few people have already done it. The discussion has kinda moved to this thread now: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1286471
