As long as you can access a welder, do it. Pipe is pipe, just take your time and make it fit right. Good Luck

i make all my own piping...ic, d/p, exhaust. i pay about 50 in materials for charge piping. i fit everything up myself, cut the pieces to spec and then tack weld them. i have a boilermaler TIG weld everything for me. in the end i only pay around 80 bucks.

Yah, if you have your own welder that can weld aluminum then other then piping costs all you are paying for is welding gas and the aluminum feed wire. If you pay a welding shop to weld it up for you then it will probably cost you another $50-$100, depending on how much the shop charges.

If you can't weld, or don't have access to a welder you may have friends that do. Me being in the redneck capitol of the world I have tons of friends that have welding machienes.

For me I'm just going to go to one of the hardware stores and buy 2.5" tubing and use couplers to hold everything together. Going to notch all the pipes using a dremel, then hairspray to make everything sticky and hold better.

I made my own pipes. Here's a tip, buy the bends and trace the bends on cardboard paper ( I used an old carboard box that I flattened out). That way, you cut the paper first and then use that as a template for the actual pipes. It'll save alot of time.

My friend used some pvc he had laying around from work. He mocked the pipes up with those then had his **** welded to match.

PVC = not the best material for your IC piping.

Just get some(4 or 5) cheap *** 2.5" U bends and do the damn thing. You can mock them up with coat hangers. . .

Did my first set with a buddy, and a sawz-all (at 1 am in my old apartments garage)

Even if you don't have access to a free welder,
it's still cheaper to buy and cut your IC piping and just take it somewhere for welding. (most places charge by the hour)

Do you have to get the pipes welded or can you just use couplers?

you can use the cuplers, some people have problems with them if they are running high psi, but if your under 10 i think you should be fine with couplers

$70 - 4 2.5" ubends
$7 - sawzall 24TPI cutting blades
$10 - muffler shop fee to weld it all

As you can see my DP was made the same way. All I did was take the ubend and just kind of try to fit it where it should go. Then I marked and cut. I went back and tried to fit again, if it needed more cutting, I would cut again. Then I marked where they needed to be lined up for welding. I got a Downpipe and all my IC pipes finished for a total cost under $120 I believe. That's with flanges and 02 bung and EVERYTHING

I went with steel because it's easier to weld.

Got the kit from tunertoys for $87.

I made my own aluminum pipe without a welder... I only have a small bandsaw.

I just taped (2" masking tape) the pipes together and used a razor blade to cut out sections to be tacked. The guy who welded it for me didn't have to do any thinking at all..

pipes fit absolutely perfect I'll take some pics when i do the hot side and post them up in the weld/fab section.
