How to tell what tranny I have (searched)
Now I have a 92 integra, and I bought a jdm cable si tranny off a dude on here who said he took it off his bros gsr. I asked him to make sure it was the short geared b16 tranny, and he said it was. Now when I bought the tranny, there was no sticker on it, so I dont know for sure what tranny it actually is. Is there a way I can see which tranny it actualy is before I drop 300 on a clutch?
there should be a sticker that says si, ji, yi....or ys1, you cant really tell if its a short or long geared tranny unless you count the teeth in the tranny or instal it on the car and guage it by the rpms
yea, thats the problem, the sticker with the tranny code and bar code lookin thing must of came off. It wasnt on the tranny when I bought it.

I really need a way to know for sure because I definetly dont want to spend a few hundred dollars on a clutch only to find out that it doesnt fit the tranny.

Thanks projectteg, that is the answer I was looking for. Now the spline is the peice that sticks out of the tranny housing that the clutch and flywheel go on to right? Sorry for the noob question, Im not to familiar with transmissions.
yep.
but the only way to be sure which one you have after that is to open it up and count the teeth on the gears, since there are 3 types of small splined transmissions - s1, j1, y1, and then two types of large spline cable transmissions, and both are YS1.

My 94 GSR doesnt have a vin on the engine, or the transmission. I see no place where there ever was one mounted and removed. Ive had the engine and trans out
I think this came into place a few years later after theft became so popular. Correct me if im wrong?
