i bought a tranny from this guy.he told me he didnt get a chance to drive with this tranny since he bought the car 4 months ago, because of engine problems. he said it was a 90-91 tranny. i asked if it was a a1. he said yes. so i get the tranny in my basement, and start to wipe the grease off it. come to find out the tranny code says s1 on a gold sticker. i have seen b16 trannys and they have been labeled s1,j1 etc. so my question is..is there a ls tranny that is s1. or is this a b16 short geared tranny.

an S1 could be a 90-93 LS tranny, or a 90-91 B16. no way to tell just by the number. you would have to open it and count gears, or put it on and feel if it is short or long.
