I have a question about Precision turbos...
My freinds SC50 recently died on him (I think he managed about 1500 miles out of the turbo) when the wheels started eating away at the housings. He took it to a local turbo shop, and the tech (fairly well known and respected here in CO) said that the exhaust side shaft bearing had a much larger oil clearance than what he has seen on most garrets.
I'm just wondering if this is standard practice of precision, or if my freind just received a bad apple?
This turbo was on a mitsubishi, and his oil feed line was tapped straight off the oil pump housing like precision reccomends. I wonder if the mitsubishi's just don't flow enough oil to keep the bearing fully supported, since I havn't really heard of this problem with Hondas.
TIA!

goin back to the time when i was racing buicks, all we ever installed was turbo's from harry. harry is well known in the buick camp and never had any issues with him. my te-32e had 40k hard miles on it when i sold the car and never passed any oil. i am hoping you just got a bad apple.
to harry and p.t.e.
