I just switched to synthetic w/ 30k miles on the car. I am not getting good gas mileage as i use to and CEL just came on. I will try and get the code on monday. Any ideas what it might be? Where can i take to get the codes besides dealers?

 

Best idea is to find out what the code is and post it...the fact that you switched oil may be pure coincidence.

 

Need the code. Oil probably had nothing to do with it.

the code was 36. which is traction control on JDM ecus. so I took it to autozone and got the code p1456 which is a untightened gas cap. thank god it was not anything major.
