car smoke at idle....
i just recently got my motor rebuilt with new bearings, pistons, rings. etc....
i have about 275 miles on the motor so far using ND 30w oil.
i notice that my car puffs out some smoke when i'm at idle sometimes... any reason why?

yeah.. i'm still breaking it in.. don't have much miles on it as of now.
compression test is about 210 across ....
i was thinking maybe my pvc valve went bad, i don't know.
just wondering why it would puff out small amounts of smoke at idle sometimes.
its not all the time , but it does do it.

how do you check the pcv valve</TD></TR></TABLE>
check if its clogged or not. replace if is. shoot some carb cleaner into if its all nasty.

Could be valve seals..allowing oil to leak down into the combustion chamber and then on start up/idle it's burning out, but i don't see how this could be possible if you just had a rebuild.
yeah.. pcv valve is dirty
friend told me sometimes my car smokes while i shift or let off gas...
i guess i just need to put more miles on the motor, but i thought the rings would have seated by now with 275 miles on the motor.

Change your 2.00 pvc valve then, if that doesn't work then it sounds like valve seals.. Perfect symptoms (smoke when let off gas, smoke on idle)

where do i get the pcv valve?
i check it and if you blow on it on one side, you can feel the air come out the other side. if you blow in it on the other side, air won't go through.
also, the pcv valve hose that goes from the pvc valve to the intake manifold wasn't all that good. it would get liked crimped when the car was on cause it seems like the hose is week. if you squeeze the hose where it look like it was getting crimped, you can feel more air going through it... don't know if thats understandable or not.
