Default Do I need a spring compressor?

I am taking off my stock suspension and adding some koni yellows and H&R sport springs. Since I don't need to remove the old springs do I still need a compressor? Also it says in my H&R instructions that the springs are designed to be completely compressed when loaded. Can anyone explain that?

I'd rent one from autozone just in case. They make you place a deposit and when you return it they refund all of it back. You can rent it forever if you want then return it like 50 years later. With my Tein S-Tech springs I didn't need it. I just put the top hat over the spring over the shock and had someone give it a little weight to compress the spring enough for me to be able to screw the top nut on.

you need the top hats of the stock shocks so you need to take it apart. if you dont know what you are doing go get a spring compressor to take it apart.

So there is no way of doing this without the compressor?

you won't need the compressor unless your removing the stock springs. Just get a buddy and when you go to install the top nut just push down (it won't take much but hard to do by yourself)

if your going to do it without a spring compressor put a tire flat on the ground at put the bottom of the shock up against the tire so when you pop it the tire absorbs some of the pressure, be carefull though

Ok well I got the spring compressor and I got the front shock off and i have a problem here. the compressor I got doesn't fit inbetween the coils. Can i loosen the nut a bit on the top hat to loosen the coils a bit to fit the compressor or no?

Haha yeah I figured that one out eventually. Front is done and will do the back tommorow. This is my first mechanical DIY job really. I install ICE for a living so I do have some backround and I read about hondas all the time.

Always fun to DIY, albeit it may take a good chunk of time.
