o2 sensor. its usually screwed into the cat or somewhere in the exhaust. you will notice it right away if you follow you exhaust from the header back. it will be the second one.

ok i think you didnt read what i wrote..its on a 97 civic...the Cat is right at the exit of the manifold..finding the sensor is really not the problem i know what it is...and where it is...its the HEATER thing that i dont understand...im just wondering if it means that i have to change the sensor...or something else...

sensor heater...i dont get it...
the way i see it its something that heats the sensor...but wtf...it makes no sense...

but if someone gives me some info..it might make some sense lol
thanks

O2 sensors have to get hot before they ever start to work. In order to make that happen faster, there is a heater element inside the O2 sensor itself - that is why there are 4 wires...2 of them are for this heater section.

If you can't measure the O2 heater resistance with a multi-meter, then just replace it.

You need to buy a Helms to eliminate this:

Measuring between the two black wires should show 10-40 ohms.
