water in EK's spare tire compartment
I need some help, I just had my rear 1/4 pannels redone professionally due to rust. In addition to that, I have had the undercarriage of my 96 civic cx hb inspected by top bodyshop people and they keep telling me that it is mint and there are no leaks there. However, whenever it rains, I get a small (~2 tablespoons to be exact) amount of water collecting in my spare tire compartment. I just recalked the seals in hopes that this will correct the prob. Any other suggestions.

Tell me about it.. my trunk is like a reservior when it rains.
First of all, this should only happen to a Hatch. check the two rubber line thing on the roof. the joint to rear wing.. i find out that 2 little place tend to leak, 2nd, check suspension mount.. its the main place that water will leak in (like mine does with aftemarket suspension)
i dont know.. water spill all over the trunk when it rains..

thats a service bulletin at honda...the factory machine that torques down the taillight gaskets over tighten it pinching the gasket which in turn reduces its ability to keep water out....so water goes right through..problem is easily fixed by replacing your tail light gaskets but be sure not to overtighten it!

My EK has a small hole right in the middle of the spare tire bay. There was sum kinda bracket there that i took out when gutting my car. It was actually hard to see untill it was sunny and i saw the light coming through. I filled it with a little dab of silicone.

Well known problem. A simple search could have been easier to do and you would have had an answer, but it is your rubber tail light gaskets that are going. Get some new ones from honda for a few bucks.

hmmm... wouldn't that make Honda liable for replacing the gaskets?
can the leak be solved with just gluing the gaskets in place with silicone sealant?
