Default Turbo S2000 I have tons of questions? Help

Hello guys, I just bought a Honda S2000 rebuilder my self. It's a 02, and it has no motor.
I'm wanting to put a turbo on this car and was wondering what kind of hp and tq on average are people getting?

What is the diffrence in the AP1 and AP2? I know the CR is 11.1:1 I was thinking of building a motor with 8.5-9.5:1 with a forged pistions and rods, what hp can the crank take? I what is the weight of the car? Want to make about 400-450 RWHP, cheap as possable is the key point. I have a bet with brother I can beat his stock Z06 with it once I'm done.

Stock corvette is 3245 lbs

On my 00 corvette I did:
ARE Stage 2 Heads 11:1CR Int 292@550 300@600 Ext 217@550 222@600
LG G5X3 Cam
LS6 Intake
Meziere Electric Water Pump
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Ulf Engineering Ported TB
Howe Racing Long Tube Headers 3” Collector
Borla XR-1 Exhaust No CATS
Vararam Air Intake
ARE Ported Oil Pump
Comp R Lifters
Spec III Clutch / Billet Steel Flywheel
Spec of cam
INT EXH
ADV DUR: 283 291
DUR @ .05: 234 242
VALVE LIFT: .598 .610

The car dyno 420 RWHP and 421 RWTQ

I really want to get into this S2000 project car and kick some corvettes around.

Let me know what you think.

Also what is the largest tire you can fit in the back? Can you get a 295

sounds good. Honda cranks are forged and very strong. Many turbo cars making high hp numbers still use the factory crank. Curb weight according to edmunds.com is 2809 lbs. The car is much smaller than a corvette and is significantly lighter ~$450 lbs. With a decent turbo setup you should have no problem with most corvettes.

AP1 - 2000-2003: 2.0 DOHC VTEC
AP2 - 2004-2005+: 2.2 DOHC VTEC

...thats the main difference, others are primarily cosmetic little things, and power differences are really small, like 2hp and 3ftlbs or something, hardly noticeable. The AP2 has a lower redline because of the larger displacement and internal changes, suspension was updated and beefed up in some areas, tranmission (gearing) was also changed, but as far as in depth deptailed, i couldnt break it down myself.

As far as turbo...it depends on how much boost you want to run, and how much work you're will to do to the motor itself as support for this boost. There are people with 600+ hp, there are turbo S2000's with less than 300hp, it just depends.

Wheel's wise, theres about 20 different threads on this...search a little.

285's will fit. Turbo guys are making over 500 whp on pump gas with built motors (maybe even with just headgaskets). The rear differential now has two kits from Austrailia to replace it with a Nissan S14 diff.
You shouldn't have any trouble with your goals. Search here and s2ki.com for more info. I might be able to help you if you have any turbo questions (on my second one now).

If you don't like their manifold, check out these shops. They all have tubular manifolds with amazing quality. Full-Race and A-Spec both locate the turbo below the manifold with long tubular runners in an equal length manifold. Lovefab uses very short runners with a nice collecter and locates the turbo above the manifold. Full-Race and LoveFab are well known with Honda guys, A-Spec is well known with RX7 guys.

Edit- Spark Racing also has some decent manifolds. http://www.sparkracing.com

All tubular manifolds do not crack. If built properly, they should last the life of the car. I'm planning on having mine last the life of my car and it isn't from one of the big manifold producers.

Here's A-Spec's policy on their manifolds (directly from their site) I read the RX7 forums often. If they can build manifolds that survive on a rotary, then the S2000 should be no problem whatsoever.

" A-Spec Tuning Turbo Kits
All turbo kits are made in the USA and all manifolds and downpipes come with a lifetime warranty! We are so confident in the quality of our manifolds that if at anytime our manifold cracks we will fix it or replace it free of charge! We only use the best parts in the industry making our turbo kits truly the best out there. All turbos are 100% Garrett turbos utilizing the newest dual ball bearing designs!"

Info on their S2000 kit
"A-spec GT Turbo kit for the Honda S2000
We all know the Honda S2000 is a great RWD car, but it needs a little more torque to get the car really going. We decided to develop one of the most complete turbo set-ups for this great car. Every piece on this kit is perfectly fitted and is meant for street/race applications. Our custom V-mount setup is a work of art with the correct ducting to fully utilize the intercooler and radiator cores! This kit includes a custom spec GT Series dual ball bearing turbo, V-mount intercooler radiator setup, fuel system, ECU, all lines, fittings and hardware. 300RWHP @ 6psi! All of our stainless Tubular manfiolds and stainless downpipes are hand crafted!

.... and dont forget all manifolds and downpipes come with a lifetime warranty!"

And now for my other favorite- LoveFab. Cody's support for the web boards and the people on them is unmatched. The guy building your manifolds owns a S2000 and has the same kit that he'll sell you on it.

Here's LoveFab's policy on their manifolds (directly from their site)
"LoveFab, INC. was started in 2003. Our sole purpose is to provide TOP NOTCH products at mediocre prices.

All of our manifolds are constructed using TIG welding processes, including FULL PENETRATION and backpurging. We use CRS 1018 1/2" thick flanges and 8 guage 304 stainless steel(16 guage can be had upon request). Because of this, all LoveFab manifolds come with a lifetime warranty on cracking(original buyer only). Do not fret though, we have not had a crack since September of 03, and our total failure rate is around 1.6%, which to our knowledge has been untouched by any other manifold production company in the business."

And info on their S2000 kit.
"S2000 Turbo Kit

These kits come with the following parts:
Your choice of Garrett GT series turbos, starting with the GT30R as the base turbo(GT30/71R pictured);
Mini-me manifold;
3" downpipe, recirculated wastegate dump tube;
TiAL 44mm wastegate;
TiAL 50mm Blow-off valve;
NEW! Precision 650hp intercooler, standard, upgrades beyond this are available;
2.5" Aluminum IC piping;
High quality 4 ply silicon couplers, T-bolt clamps;
AEM EMS Plug and Play Standalone management;
780cc injectors;
Walbro 255lph fuel pump;
Fast-turbo oil feed/return, coolant feed/return lines.

For the $, this is the highest quality kit ON THE MARKET PERIOD. Tuning on the prototype yielded 312whp, 202wtq at only 8psi with a VERY conservative tune of 16 degrees total timing, and 91 octane fuel. These are very exciting results! Kit is ready to ship within 3 weeks of placing an order. "

Log style and cast aren't bad, but there are multiple threads on here with guys who gained over 40 whp and kept roughly the same spool when switching to a well-built tubular manifold. I just switched from log to tubular and am VERY happy with the results- I'm not the only one to do that either...
