I juss had my I/H/E install'd for bout $90 pretty good I could've done it but the intake aem v2 is a pain even the tech told me but he gave me a good deal and now when idle i hear a weird clicking noise almost and it smells pretty bad after I floor it for a little while what could be wrong??? I'm gonna bring it bak to tomorrow to have him look at it but yeah its a Greddy Sp2 System wid Dc 4-2-1 2pc headers n Aem V2....

 

well when u get an new exchaust system, it's going to have a smell to it like burning metal or something like that it'll last for like a week. and the clicking noise im not sure if this is it but it might be ur heat sheilds rattling.

 

The smell is more than likely the coating on the exhaust system to protect it.

And the rattling, could be numerous things heat shilds, or the intake itself bouncing off something.

 

that's what i'm say'n rattling... check all the stupid shields and such.. i was gonna buy new axles until i found out it was only my dust shield for the rotors making the stupid noises. woulda been a waste of money

 

i have aem v2 intake and it sounds fine, i think its something else thats making the noise.

 

when installed my skunk2 mega power it smelled like waffles for like 2 weeks lmao

 

find the spot where the exhaust almost touches and dent the heat shield to make it farther away.. that should work.. since i had the same problem on my civic (r.i.p. **** car thieves) then that fixed it.

 

yeah thx guyz I took it bak to my tech and it was the heat shield that surrounded it he moved it over to tha side a lil and no more rattle....

 

I had the same problem with my greddy sp2 exhaust on my da. the pipes weren't welded to together perfectly straight so it was rattling on the heat sheild.

 

and same thing on my apex n1. heat shield. also yeah, the smell will wear off in a week-ish, depending on how much you drive it. it's also the finish that's burning off, since the exhaust has never had hot combustion gasses flowing through it before.

 

That is the problem people run into when they have others do their work. When you are underneath the car doing it yourself, you can see potential problems. But heatshied rattles are common when putting on an aftermarket exhaust.

 

$90 for installation? That's pretty cheap eh?
