exhaust swap regarding a swap.

Default exhaust swap regarding a swap.

I have a EG hatch, with a USDM GSR engine, which has the OEM exhaust manifold and cat.

I had a del Sol and recently I tradded my freind his shell for my shell. We both got to keep all of our parts. Anyways, He didn't have exhaust on his car since he was turbo, he just went open down pipe. My del sol exhaust was a teg rear muffler then I lengthen some OEM length (not diameter) pipeing and it fit fine. When I tryed to fit it on my new hatch, it completely didn't fit in so many places. The teg muffler seems too big to fit, the exhaust was like 4 inches short, and the hangers are about 6 inches further back.

So now I need new exhaust. I want to buy a full catback and have it fit perfectly without cutting anything (IE taking my brand new RSR catback to a muffler shop to rust out in a year right at his welds)

Here are my plans. I want to find a b16 or a b18b lower half of a OEM exhaust manifold. This should make up the diffrence in length.

Now my question contenues. If I use a b16 lower "Down pipe" of the exhaust manifold and the OEM GSR cat (not sure if there is a length diffrence) will the EG hatch catback that I buy just bolt up?

the best thing to do is to get a custom cat fabbed up. that's what i did. i had a stock b18b/b16a header (same lengths) and catback made for a hatch. then i had a custom cat made for $100.

That really doesn't answer my question. The question is, with a GSR cat, b16 header/lower section and a hatch catback = no gaps.

Or the other question would be, how much would an exhaust shop charge me to make a pipe that would have the 3 bolt pattern like the cat does on both ends to make up the diffrence. Anyone know of any sites that make something like this?

alright, I figured out what I had to do, and it did work, so please use this for refrence. If your like me and don't want to go to the exhaust shop to have your brand new exhaust cut and rewelded, here is what I did and it did work.

If you have a GSR swap with gsr OEM manifold, get rid of it. I bought a RS integra header (guy was basicly giving it away and didn't feel like seperating it) and a civic legth cat. Bolt those together, and it will work. However, The civic cat had to be rotated slightly to work but now I have no gaps in my system, no exhaust leaks, and a brand new RSR exhaust system. I am in love with it.

Yes, you are correct. The secondarys of the RS are a decent size smaller then the GSR. For now, I don't care. It was one of those things that I just wanted/needed at the time, and wasn't really careing about performance. However, by doing this and not modifiying my exhaust, it opens me up to alot of other header brands or opertunitys because since the GSR is the bastard child of the b-series when it comes to exhaust, its alot easier to find ITR/b16/b18b length aftermarket headers in classifieds.

So for the sake of reference, This would also work if someone decided to use an JDM 4-1 header or the like.
