It's the "Ditching" code, it happens after you ditch somebody at Dave & Busters in San Diego and go home to Orange County without saying anything. Then your friend wonders what happenened to you an hour later to discover that you took off...

It's the cam or crank sensor without a doubt. The symptoms exactly are the same as mine. It ended up being the crank sensor in the distributer. Mine just went out of nowhere while I was driving. I was lucky to be close to home. It would run for a minute, then it would die or sputter. I replaced the cam sensor, and it still did it. I replaced the distributer, and it's been fine for the last two years.

yeah...thats what im thinking its going to be...

The Helms shows the wires to check from the code 4 go into the dist regardless if its a DOHC or d16a6...

Why would they tell you to check 2 wires going to the dist and then i have everyone else telling me its the exhaust cam sensor..doesnt make sense....

Im on the hunt for a new dist tho...

i cant seem to find the topic where i had this problem before and the problem was solved by the help of Blown90hatch and Sergone.

by thinking of saving money first.....what you want to do is check your wires on the distributor connectors and specially on the ecu side. i've had this problem that i couldnt solved for a month til i met Blown90hatch and Sergone. they suggested to check my wires. i told them i've checked it for the whole past month and they are connected right. Blown90hatch...got irritated at some point (hehehehehhehehe) and kept bragging about it to check it closely. and there it goes...he was right. a loose wire. if it wasnt for Blown90hatch and Sergone....i would of been scratching my head still til now. "check"

I took off the harness I made for the zc dist(i made a harness so i didnt have to cut the original harness) and I checked all the connections..resoldered etc..

itll run fine for about 20 mins after starting from cold....after that its just sputter sputter sputter everywhere

Im sure i just need a new dist...

I agree. If it did it from startup, then I'd say check wires, but since it takes a little while, I think its the sensor.

may i ask....did you reset the ecu by pulling the hazard fuse off?? another question...what distributor are you using?? if purchase another distributor and it gives you the code 4 again.. i suggest go back and check your wirings. and pls keep us updated. i know sometime in the future....this topic will help when someone gets the code#4 too.

argh...How can it be my wiring? I use a Harness to make the dist connections(A female d16a6 dist plug to plug up to the stock harness and then its wired from there to the zc dist and exhaust cam sensor)

I took off the harness last night and soldered all the connections..double and triple checked that they were right...and shrink wrapped everything....

Also..Ive had the ZC in for about 5000 miles with no codes since the day it went in, youre telling me my wiring is just now making it throw a code?

You keep asking what distributor im using..What other distributor can I use besides a ZC/88-89 Integra one?
