megasquirt standalone
my brother an i are getting ready to put his 1.8l swapped 1st gen miata on megasquirt. recently megasquirt has updated their program so that you dont have to use a ford 4 cylinder ignition. they now make honda, nissan and toyota and mazda applications. from what i hear, in tampa (i lived there for 20 yrs before i moved to socal) there are quite a few guys running it, and the reason you dont hear about it much on a site liek this is becuase not too many people know a whole lot about it.
im wondering if there is anyone running it bseries wise, who could chime in about how its working for them. becuase im thinking of going that route in the near short future.
thanks

Well I guess my question is why??
We (Honda community) have soooo many good options for Engine management!
On a side note though, my freind has a 340 whp turbo Saturn with megasquirt. It is a little on the touchy side from time to time. If you really want to I say go for it.... but chrome is practilly free, why not use that??

megasquirt looks decent for non-honda applications.
Due to the efi option we have for obd1 ecus i.e. crome, uberdata, hondata etc I wouldnt see a reason to run megasquirt.

this is true. I recently installed a megasquirt in a ae86 4age. just the megasquirt alone is a upgrade on the base map.
tons of my non honda friends have had success with the mega squirt. first gen rx7, ranger turbo, etc. its actually better than the haltech e6x IMO.
i dont see a reason to run this on honda's since hondata and crome are pretty much fully tuneable ECU's. The other makes want this because their factory stuff is pretty much junk and a standalone like the megasquirt is their only option.

i know there are lot of other programs out there and no need to run megasquirt.
why not ? nothing wrong with trying out different system ..if it work..great
if not ,so what i tried and time to move on to different system or set up . you don't know until you tried it ..or should i wait till some one say it's good system and hop on the wagon .
there are some running megasquirt on the older hondas(roadracing ) in RPR forum and having good outcome with it .

I am not saying it dosen't work well... I am saying there are just so many easier options. I have a turbo neon that I was thinking about putting megasquirt on. It is a great option for that application. But if they made a chrome or uberdata for a neon I would definately use that, It seems to be alot easier to nail down driveability.
i understand what you are saying , what i like to find out is what kind of problem will i run into and if that problem is worth going thru .. i like said trying out different set up .
