Default B-Series "Dogbox"

im curious to see if any companies make what i call "dogboxes" for the b-series motors. that is, straight cut gears that replace the helical setup for the 5 forward gears. i know alot of the dsm guys have these available to them but havent really seen any around for us honda guys. i know a company called CTC makes a set but their site is down at the moment.

Thanks

CTC is no longer in business, Libertys has the only ones that have proven themselves so far. 15 8.5 or better passes and counting in Chuck Seitsingers car.

the liberty's kit includes 1-4 for like 3950 or something. i was really hoping to find a kit that retained 5th gear

I bought a saenz gearset 1-5 straight cut for my H series. but they also had a dog box option, i believe they are finished with the b series design\testing. The 5th gear is 1:1 though or 1.05:1, so no overdrive. (gearset was $1700, R&P $1900, and will assemble it for you at no charge)

Alfred Nolan- contact there, can help you, they tested them and so far had 1100whp and still going.

quiafe does. they always have an add for it in the import magazines.

Its like $2600 for the gears, $15K for a 6 speed sequential setup.

Tony doesn't G-force also make a dog cut gears for the b series?

Yes, they do, but i don't know any info on them. I know for sure the liberty stuff works, that's why i mentioned it. There are others out there, Saenz, PAR, G-Force, etc., but i can't say how well they work.

What is the main benefit to these gears? (aside from strength)

I knew about the strength, custom ratios etc... even the whine... but there has to be some sort of advantage to the actual way the gear is cut...

what do you mean by the way the gear is cut? if you mean the teeth, a "dogbox" has straight cut gears as opposed to helical. i know the straight cut teeth are stonger, but i also heard they loose less power through the drivetrain because of the striaght cut also. can anyone confirm this?

main advantage is strength and the ability to shift quicker... all you need is an ignition cut setup and you can upshift without taking your foot off of the gas...same with down shift. also the whine isnt that bad believe it or not
