Engine Noise?
Just wanted to see if I should be worried. I have a 97 Civic DX. 150,000 miles. When I start in the morning and when the car is cold the engine gives a sound like baseball cards in bike spokes. I've heard this on other cars I've had and just wanted to know the cause. I know I have a bad o2 sensor that needs to be replaced but other than that the car is in great shape with a recent tune up. Any ideas?
Thanks

to do a "head job" you remove the head then strip it bare and clean or "heat tank" it. Re-surface the valve seats and re-seat the valves. Many times new valve guides are installed and all of your valve springs are checked for proper tension. Then new valve seals are installed along with the rest of your parts and new gaskets.
Edit: I forgot to mention this is also the time you mill the head if needed/desired.

either vavles or exhaust leak. you could have a blown exhaust gasket somewhere. get in there and listen, you can usually tell where the noise is coming from. if you put your hand close to the flanges of your exhaust while your fans are OFF, you can feel it.
