Well heres my prob. I was at Taco bell last night and pulled to the first window,paid and was about to pull to the second win,when i didn't give enough gas and car killed.Ok just start it up,but no it wouldnt at first I kept trying and then finally after some protest it started.So ok i had my lights on and music playin,must have killed the battery,so I driving back home and i get about 4-5 miles,all the while my RPM and Speedo gauges dont work,and everything is real dim.Then at a redlight it kills,so i pull it too the side pop hood check out the battery posts and fool around with some wires,try and start and it tries but to no avail.

So I eventually push start it since im on a downhill,and it starts but is really bogging when i first try and go,this time I make it about 2-3 miles and I'm turning in my neighborhood its starts to kill and i give it more gas but it just makes it worse.So today i haven't fooled with it yet,but i almost 80% its the alt.I have an LS motor and a optima batt.I most likely gonna buy a new alt,but just wont to make sure that my gauges not working is one of the symptons of a bad alternator.Searched but didn't get a definite answer.I apperciate any help,peace.

did your battery light come on when it died?? most likely its alternator. You can have it tested before buying a new one

dont know i have a jdm cluster and it didn't light up.Most likely the alt.,but i just wanted to make sure that the gauges not working were can be a result from a bad alternator.Thanks.peace.
