Default New Civic owner!!!...Some questions

Just wanted to say hey out there. I just bought a 1998 Civic EX. Its got a 103,000miles on it. Right now I just have a few things on it like a full exhaust from the header back and an Injen intake. One of the questions I have is that at idle it has a slight valve tap and when u rev it it gets louder. Is this just something from the age of the motor or is this something else. I am planning on doin a motor swap soon but unfortunaly I have a 2yr warranty on it so I can't touch ne thing for 2 yrs. Thanx

i dunno bout tryin 2 turbo wit $500

my cousin did it on his 1.5sohc an it was fast as hell but motor didnt last nothin but 3 months

I CAN TELL U THE LAST THING U REALLY WANNA BUY IS A B18B
I HAVE B18B1 AND I KNOW LIKE 8 PEOPLE WIT THEM
NO MATTER OBD0 OBD1 OBD2 (THEY ALL SUCK)
WE ALL HAVE COMPRESSION PROBLEMS AN WE TAKE CARE OF OUR MOTORS
ITS JUST NATURAL WIT A B18
THEY GET COMPRESSION PROBLEMS AN SLOWLY LOSE POWER
SO B18B SERIES MOTORS SUCK *** AN IF I HAD A CHOOSE I WOULDNT OWN 1

D16 GET A JDM SOHC OR GOOD SHAPE USDM 1.6(GOOD HOWEVER U BUILD LONG AS U DONT OVER DO IT)ALSO CHEAPER

B18C1 GSR (GOOD 4 ANY MODE)

B18C5 TYPE R(ALL MOTOR OR LIGHT TURBO)

B20(CRAP UNLESS U WANNA WASTE MONEY 2 MAKE IT WORTH SUMTHIN)

B16

IM NOT MAKIN ANY THING I WROTE UP I KNOW PEOPLE WIT ALL THESE ENGINES AN IF U GET ANYONE OF THEM U BETTER HOPE ITS N GOOD SHAPE CAUSE U CANT TELL IF IT CAN BE TESTED
BUT JUST SAY NOT 2 B18B UNLESS UR IN BAD NEED(I OWN 1 I KNOW)

But if I were to turbo this motor I would have to rebuild it cuz like I said already its got some valve noises and it has 103,000 miles on it. So to get a turbo and rebuild the motor its gunna cost about $1500+. Thats why I figured I'd go with the new motor

this is 4 the dude the made the post not the **** talkers!!!!

the stock motor is done
so get another ex motor in good shape for the same price
(u keep ur vtech an no major modes or conversion harness required 2 drop in an iffy ls motor)

but if u really want the b18b motor does it have tranny, ecu, and what year car did it come out of so you know if it is obd1 to see if u need conversion harness 4 the ecu

if your **** is warranteed, then why not go get your **** checked under the warranty? i'd say a noticeable valve click is worth a shot at it.

lol, no joke man, as bauley said at the very beginning of this post, 99.8% chance you just need to get your valves adjusted, it quite a frequent and normal occurrence, to say get a new motor because of a little valve sound is hilarious,
and holy hell dude, the caps man, I am not one to flame, but wtf is with the caps? and the lingo you were using was so damn confusing i had to read each line like 5 times... uggggg

WTF dood, i wasn't gonna bash on ya until u said his motr is done. how the hell would u know that? he could just have a slight valve problem and ur saying it's done? y8's are strong reliable motors. and stop using are= r or you=u and for=4 for everything, extremely annoying!

anyway buddy about ur motor, just get a valve adjustment. and like someone said beore if it's under warrenty have them take care of it. yea like i've posted before, ls motors are not my pikc unless it's a built b20 sleeved block then u can make some mad power, other then that stay away from the non vetc goodluck

yall got me on the valves thing but ive seen warped pistons an engine chips in the block just from what sounded like knocking valves
but get the valves adjusted and see how that goes

hmm a 98 motor wit lower miles tapping as loud as he trys 2 make it sound
maybe the previous owner drove the crap out of the car an didnt take care of it

my 92 dx motor i had wit 207000 miles i sold 2 my cousin 2 months ago still doesnt knock an the previous owner didnt have any valve adjustment done
