why nitrous?
what is it that makes nitrous the gas to use over any other flameable gas?
why cant you have an oxygen line hooked up the fuel injectors so that you get a shot of oxygen (reelie small shot) with the spray of fuel?
i know this may seem like a stupid question to some but it just popped into my head when the maintence guy at work was tellin me to pack my fuel lines with dry ice. yes its true they make a unit that holds dry ice and i guess the fuel lines wrap around the area where said dry ice is.......interesting i say!

Cheaper, safer and burns cleaner (in an automotive performance situation) than some other gasses. It also has alot to do with what happens when it does assist in detonation...if you look into drag cars, ethanol and methanol and other mixtures are used to make a car go extremely fast (atleast help in the combustion department)...but then again, the engines as they sit are good for one...maybe 2 runs if they dont explode on the first...with nitrous, you have a mixture in your combustion chamber that improves performance, doesnt require the tuning and upgrading that other gasses/liquids would require to burn, AND its relatively cheap to refill on a scale of things compare to some others. There are also temperature factors involved but i think you get the basic point...and just for future reference, nitrous does impliment Oxygen into the mixture...you wouldnt have Nitrous Oxide without Oxygen.
nitrous oxide helps to cool the air/fuel mixture among other things....remember any gases injected need to be easily compressible...they cant be too dense....just throwing in some random gas (and i mean gas, not gasoliene) doesnt make more power.....
This is also a good explination from a medical website (lol, discussing car applications!)

Additionally, since nitrous oxide is stored as a liquid, the evaporation of liquid nitrous oxide in the intake manifold causes a large drop in intake charge temperature. This results in a smaller, denser charge, and can reduce detonation, as well as increase power available to the engine.</TD></TR></TABLE>

my engine looks like it has been steam cleaned from the nitrous i have put through it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
when my dad and myself swapped heads on our 351 late last year, i noticed absolutely NO diff in the engine being and cleaner (cylinder walls, heads, valve train) than anything else that has had its oil changed properly/regular mainenance*.
and we have ran..heck, i dont even know how many bottles of nitrous weve been through and weve never ran less than 150 hp (never more either).
and in all my readings on nitrous ive never seen anything that said it cleaned your engine.
got proof of that (article that backs you up) or not?

well i meant nitrous in its natural state (i.e straight from the bottle isnt flamable).

no proof but experience, when i took my head off and saw it. maybe my engine has just been really maintained but it looked like it was steam cleaned.

my car accord 1990 auto 4doormy emission failed 6 times because nitrogen is too high two times normal.
EGR, pcv, plugs, fuel filter, airfilter all have been replaced what may be problem
you think can you help me as I have to go again for test.
