best coilovers? *searched*
Hey
as the title implys, i searched and found nothing on coilovers at all... what do you all recommend for second gen CRXs? price range would be 6-800 for all 4, but i could go as high as 1000 if the features were worth it. I plan on keeping it stock\near stock ride hight to keep the camber sane, and also so i dont bottom out on the many speed bumps in my neighborhood. any help would be appreciated

Well, it's a very broad question. Given your budget, what are you planning to do with the car? Just daily driver or is it going to see some track time, or full track time, etc... Any good coilover system will have good enough travel so you don't bottom out around town.

ah i knew i was being too broad, i just couldnt think of what to specify. it would mostly be a daily driver, but i would like it to see some track time once a month or so. thanks for the help, i'm new to the import scene and dont know many good brand names.
i have to say that for the money, omni power is teh roxorz. i got the sport kit....daily driven car that gets track time on the weekend.....i run the same settings for track and daily driving...although alittle bumpy on the weekdays, at the track its perfect, but then again i have the preload set alittle stiffer than most do.
okay, so i have:
Omni Power - http://www.omnipowerusa.com/Pr...r.asp
and Ground control - http://www.ground-control.com/...48f28
the latter's website is a bit confusing, with the shock options and such. i'm just wondering what people have found to be effective (thanks 1quickcrx). what shock options would you all reccomend for mostly daily driving? i would really like the option of stiffening it up in case i wanted to go to the track.
thanks for the help

omni power looks great, and its getting alot of reccomendations, but what about adjustibilty? koni shocks ( http://www.koni-na.com/display...tinue ) seem to have adjustible dampening. any comments on this? do you acutally use this feature if you have it?
If I were you I would not get the omnipower. If you want a low priced, good quality, fully adjustable setup, get the K-Sport. http://www.ksportusa.com
PM user DRFlickner or ZX6RR on here. (They are a site sponsor and their company will be carrying Ksport as of this week.)

I have eibach springs and tokico shocks. My crx handels like it on rails. Of course i have upgraded wheels and front, back, upper, and lower sway bars. You really need the whole package to really get the whole feel. With your buget, you can get most of it. I had coilovers and imo, the were a big hassle. These dont adjust, but its a street car, not a full time track car. My crx is on 16"s and the fill the wheel well perfect. Lowers about 1 1/4in all around give or take and doesnt beat me up when i drive. Some times less is more imo!!!!!
Especially if your new to it and are still learning.

SMZ, I take it for a CRX you would use the 89-91 Civic EF set?
EF9eDDie, the setup you suggested looks very good, i like the 5 way adjustibility on shocks and the ability to lower\raise ride hight.
I do need some stabalizer and roll bars, also. the tokico\skunk2 setup looks good right now because total it would be around 600, which would allow me to buy some suspension extras.
i'm still open to suggestions

a set of tokico 5 ways or koni yellows matched with gc or skunk2 coilovers is perfectly fine. ull save some money with one of these combos and ull have money leftover for a tire/rim combo or a rear swaybar.
this is crxguy52... i'll keep this sn from now on, its the same as all the other forums i'm on.
thanks for the info CRX-Fluffy. I guess coilover are the way to go, reliabily wise. i really could care less about the whole 'dropped' look, as long as it handles well, and reading the information provided it seems that sleves arnt very reliable. like i said before, i'd like to keep it close to stock ride hight for now.
I gave DRFlickner an email on some ksports, they seem to be a good inexpensive coilover. i guess i'm looking for expandibility here.
anybody else experience threads slipping on shock collars? change from collars to coilovers? any more opinions?

if you plan to go autocrossing koni yellow with GC will work also you can get custom spring rates if you want. web site to buy them from http://redshiftmotorsports.com/suspension.htm the kit goes for 850 and you get free shipping.
the ksport are said to have custom springrates available also ( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1227494 ). for 125 less, i could get the ksports which the shocks and springs are matched, plus its a coilover. not bashing the setup, though, i'll keep an eye out for it. you cant beat a proven setup.

Konis have internally and externally adjustable koni sports. You pay extra for the external ones. Great dampening on the shocks. Im rolling on GC's and Konis, it is a tad rough with the spring rates they give you stock for CRX. But it handles like its on rails nonetheless. -Jon

You should be able to adjust the damping with the shock in the car. The spring perch on the konis is also adjustable. This requires the removal of the shock.
