type r pistons into a y8? i doubt it.. unless the pistons are the same size
plus, generally type r cars are just prebuilt motors... ie: lower compression. and low compression isnt something u want with turbo... so no for type r ==better for turbo... u wouldnt be able to run as good boost

Type r's are high compression motors. Low compression is what you want with turbo, not high.

well it all depends on the money you wnat to spend to do it? no ls rods can fit in the d seris blocks i would asume if you sleeve the bore to 81 mm the pistons would work out for ya but that whould be way more than just putting in forged internals. but you would have a bigger displacment them so it all comes down to money and time. IMO

You have never built a motor, have you?
Let's do some math.
D-series=75mm bore, B16/18=81mm bore. That is a difference of 6mm on the diameter, or 3mm on the radius. With a 75mm bore, you have roughly a 9.5mm wall between cylinders. If you try and use the 81mm slugs, that would leave you with roughly 3.5mm between cylinders. Do that, and good luck with gasket seal and liner strength. Not to mention aftermarket sleeves to allow the 81mm bore would take up most of the water jacket, and you would most likely have serious hot spots.
