Default Buzz sound

i belive i've heard you guys talk about this before. but....usually when the car is cold
i'll take off gently and around 2000 rpms i'll hear a lound BUUZZZZZZZ sounds like
its comin from the exhaust, then it goes away. i never hear it when the motor is warm. from what i've read it has somthing to do with the header, or heat sheild, its done this since we bought the car new in 1995, but were lazy about investigating. i'll fix it if its easy and cheap, but if it requires time and money then its not worth it because otherwise the car is perfect, just annoys me

tighten your header bolts. That will probably work for a while, but you may have to get some lockwashers or something. How long has it been happening, and does it go away after you get out of that RPM range? Also, if you take off quickly, is the buzzing sound shorter, or is it constant?

Most likely...you need to replace the small 6 or 8 inch section of exhaust mid pipe. The dealerships call it the exhaust buzz kit. Most of them are pretty knowlegeble on this subject. The gaskets on the pipe become worn and they rattle or buzz about 2K RPM. There is a service bulletin on it at the dealerships. Pretty common problem with that year model....so I would check there first> Good luck!

yeah, I want to raise the subject from the dead instead of starting a new post. Mine has similar symptoms and I'd like to get it dealt with.
This doesn't seem to be much of a DIY eh?
And if I do get it done how much will it cost?
There is no warranty etc? My car has 175,000 so I'm not sure.
My car also makes a buzzing noise at higher rpms in any gear i believe. Around 3500RPM.
I know it's not the transmission since it shifts awesome and never slips etc. I also changed the tranny fluid within 3,000 miles and the fluid is good.

as long as there isn't oo much rust it's definately a good DIY job. Let me know and I can get sme instructions for you. There might be something about it in the FAQ

yeah, that would be greatly appreciated. Would I be able to go as far as saying the gasket can reduce performance to like interrupt flow, or is it just making a noise?

I couldn't find any good diagrams but is it the piece between the front end of the exhaust and the catalytic converter, right next to the catalytic converter? Cause if so, it's pretty rusty and ugly.

Hondadude, you're my hero!!!

Hondadude, do you think this could be a DIY for me? I know that the parts are pretty rusted so it might be difficult.
Is it a matter of busting the rusted bolts and screws replacing them and then replacing the gaskets?
